Vero Construc

Created for the East German toy company Vero in 1975, these colorful booklets itemize all of the pieces included in the “Construc” construction kit.
So, came across these beautiful things at FFFFOUND, and then was re-directed to grain edit, which is an inspirational blog. How tasty. Vintage toy booklets. Is there anything more beautiful in the world? Especially German toys. You can't beat the Germans. Every kid just wants to play with screw-drivers and nuts and bolts, and geek out. Reminds me of those Mechano products when I was a kid— much too complicated for me, I just wanted to break stuff, rather than make stuff. That, or finger-paint. Apparently, The back cover reads, “Toys With System for the Creators of Tomorrow’s World.” Loving the graphics, and the colours. Anything with those front on orthogonal type drawings, I'm a fan of. Check out toxi's flickr account for more photographs of the booklet.

Recent Work

Just a few pieces I've been working on lately—

Love This Mess

A collection of photographs taken on a wednesday night/thursday morning, and maybe there after. Pharoahe Monch was blasting. Time was ever-lasting. I love the look of mess, especially other people's. And other people's rooms/studio's. It's their inner-most sanctuary, and more times than not, their most favourite place. Things on display, things hidden away. The mess, the belongings— it's there to be shown, to be captured, to be admired. I'm an extreme hoarder. Obsessive compulsive. I love to collect things. Everything. Mostly print, and little bits and pieces. Touchy things. Old things. Something you can feel. Something you can smell.

Repeat After Me

Go to work, send your kids to school
Follow fashion, act normal
Walk on the pavements, watch T.V.
Save for your old age, obey the law
Repeat after me: I am free

This has been around for quite some time; not sure when or where I heard it first. I saw it again today. It's been adopted by that surf/skate/whateveriamidon'tknow company Insight for their new ad campaign. Loved the other photographs. Free. Recklessness. Debauchery. Summer. Sums up everything. A drone is not something I wish to be. And this blog will (hopefully—in your eyes), not be of the droning nature. Uma Thurman in Gattaca type drones wearing grey and cleaning their keyboards with tiny little vacuums. I hope you enjoy.
